Le violoniste canadien Laurent Tanguay a commencé l'étude du violon dès l’âge de six ans et a complété en 2023 une maîtrise en interprétation à l’Université de Montréal. Au cours de ses études, il s’est distingué en recevant la bourse d’excellence des études supérieures et postdoctorales (ESP).

Il a également suivi des cours de maître avec des musiciens de renom tels que Koichiro Harada, Claude Richard, Guillaume Tardif, le Quatuor Calidore, Mirko Maltoni et Alberto Casadei. Il a participé à plusieurs festivals internationaux, notamment l’International Music Festival of the Villa Medici Giulini, ainsi que ceux de Rimini, Paestum, Torchiaraet Santarcangelo en 2019, 2022 et 2023.

En tant que concertiste, il se produit activement comme soliste avec orchestre et comme chambriste. En 2024, il a notammen interprété le Concerto de Mendelssohn avec l’Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Montréal, ainsi que l’intégrale des sonates pour violon et piano de Brahms aux côtés du pianiste Fabrizzio Vargas. Il s’est également produit à de nombreuses reprises en Italie, tant comme soliste que chambriste. En 2018, il y a interprété le Petit concerto pour Carignan et orchestre d’André Gagnon en tant que soliste, et il y a présenté de nombreux récitals entre 2019 et 2024.

Parallèlement à sa carrière de concertiste, il enseigne le violon à l’École de musique Vincent-d’Indy et au conservatoire du Collège Stanislas. Il collabore également avec plusieurs ensembles professionnels, dont les Choeurs Saint-Laurent, l’Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke et celui de Drummondville. Enfin, il participe à divers projets d’enregistrement, notamment en tant que violoniste pour le groupe de musique québécoise Pour VeniZ.e.

Canadian violinist Laurent Tanguay began studying the violin at the age of six and completed a master’s degree in performance at the Université de Montréal in 2023. During his studies, he was awarded the Excellence Scholarship for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (ESP) inrecognition of his achievements.

He has taken part in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Koichiro Harada, Claude Richard, Guillaume Tardif, the Calidore String Quartet, Mirko Maltoni, and Alberto Casadei. He has also participated in several international festivals, including the International Music Festival of the Villa Medici Giulini, as well as the festivals of Rimini, Paestum, Torchiara, and Santarcangelo in 2019, 2022, and 2023.

As a performer, he is active both as a soloist with orchestra and as a chamber musician. In 2024, he performed Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Montréal, and gave a full performance of the complete Brahms violin and piano sonatas with pianist Fabrizzio Vargas. He has also appeared frequently in concert in Italy, both as a soloist and chamber musician. In 2018, he performed André Gagnon’s Petit concerto pour Carignan et orchestre as a soloist with orchestra, and has given numerous recitals there between 2019 and 2024.

Alongside his performing career, he teaches violin at the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy and at the Conservatoire of Collège Stanislas. He also performs regularly with several professional ensembles, including the Saint-Lawrence Choir, Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra and the Drummondville Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he takes part in a variety of recording projects, notably as violinist for the Quebec music group PourVeniZ.e.
