On April 26, the 2026 Spring Recital of the APMQ was held in the beautiful Joseph-Rouleau Hall of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada. Nearly 80 students, representing 20 QMTA teachers in piano, voice, and harp, took part in the event. We enjoyed wonderful performances throughout the six recitals presented over the course of the day!

Rising Stars: a fundraising concert for the Montréal Classical Music Festival
Hear the future of classical music in Montreal as top prize winners from the MCMF dazzle you with their talent. Our special guest will be Serhiy Salov, one of Canada's great pianists, who will perform Liszt's Spanish Rhapsody.
All proceeds from the concert support the Festival operations budget and student prizes.

Bazzini: La Ronde des Lutins performed by Aiden Liu, violin (Winner of the trophies violin solo junior C, senior violin concerto, and junior grand champion)
Scriabin: Sonata no. 2 performed by Qingyun Ye, piano (Winner of the trophies senior piano solo, senior piano concerto, senior grand champion)
Arditi: Il Bacio performed by Alisa Leman, soprano (Winner of the senior voice trophy)
Bartók: Six Romanian Folk Dances performed by Amélie Tao, violon (Winner of the trophies junior violon concerto and violin solo junior A and junior grand champion)
An exceptional pianist, Serhiy Salov dazzles both with the virtuosity of his playing and the sensitivity of his interpretation. Following his victory at the Montreal International Music Competition in 2004, the young Ukrainian moved to Canada. Besides his native Ukraine, Serhiy Salov has performed solo in Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK and has performed as a Soloist with the greatest orchestras in the world.
Organized by the Quebec Music Teachers' Association, the Montreal Classical Music Festival is a prestigious platform that has been celebrating the heritage of classical music for over 50 years. Each year, the event brings together young instrumentalists (ages 5 to 23) and singers (up to age 25) for an exceptional artistic competition, judged by renowned educators and masters. Open to all students studying with teachers affiliated with the APMQ, the festival also serves as a springboard for nationally and internationally recognized talents; past winners include Bruce Liu, Chloé Dumoulin, Isabella d’Éloize Perron, Marika Bournaki and Yun Kai Sun.
