Bio

Dr. Ryan Kolodziej is enjoying a varied music career that has included solo and collaborative performances, accompanying nationally acclaimed amateur and university choirs, and individual instruction and group courses at the pre-college and university level. His passion for collaboration fuels his desire to work in music education.

He currently teaches piano at L’École de musique Vincent-d’Indy and the Conservatoire de Collège Stanislas in Outremont, Montreal. At the post-secondary level, he has taught as a chargé de cours at l'Université de Montréal, as well as a course instructor at the University of Alberta. His students have enjoyed much success including top prizes at competitions, several First Class Honours in Royal Conservatory of Music exams. He is also in demand as an adjudicatorfor competitions and examiner for music exams.

As a pianist, Ryan has performed in Canada and Europe. He has been fortunate to receive multiple grants that supported his artistic achievements from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and a SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada) research grant award for his work on Liszt/Schubert arrangements and transcriptions.

Ryan is also the Executive and Artistic Director of Primo Music Association, a not-for-profit that runs Centric MusicFest: a summer classical and art music festival in Alberta and has enjoyedthe opportunity to collaborate and perform with Canadian musicians from coast-to-coast.

When he is not doing music related activities, Ryan enjoys gardening, hiking, and building and endlessly customizing computers or any other related technology that he can get his hands on.

Dr. Ryan Kolodziej pursues an exciting and varied musical career, including solo and collaborative performances, accompanying nationally acclaimed amateur and university choirs, and teaching individual and group courses at the pre-college, collegiate, and university levels.

As a pianist, Ryan has performed in Canada and Europe. He has received numerous awards, including several grants from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and a SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada) research grant for his work on Liszt/Schubert arrangements and transcriptions.

Over the years, he has collaborated and performed with Canadian musicians at Centric MusicFest, a summer classical and art music festival in Alberta produced by Primo Music Association, of which he is the Executive and Artistic Director.

He has taught as a chargé de cours at the University of Montreal and as a course instructor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. His students have achieved notable success, including top prizes in competitions and several First Class Honours at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams. He is also in demand as a competition adjudicator and examiner.

He currently teaches piano in Montreal at L’École de musique Vincent-d’Indy and the Conservatoire du Collège Stanislas in Outremont.

His passion for collaboration and his belief that access to high-quality music education is crucial for artistic and cognitive development motivate his dedication to teaching.

Outside of music, Ryan enjoys gardening, hiking, and building and endlessly customizing computers and other technology.
