For Danielle Langevin, music teaching began in her teenage years, when she gave piano lessons to the children she babysat. Soon, friends and neighbours joined in, allowing her to successfully fund her musical studies at the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy.
Danielle Langevin led the music education component of the sociocultural department of the City of Châteauguay for seven years. Shortly afterward, she opened her small private school, affiliated with École Vincent-d’Indy, under the name "Studio de musique Danielle Laberge." The studio was later registered as "Studio Musik Lab" in 1990 and then as "Studio Ad Lib" in 2005. In 2012, the studio expanded its offerings to include voice and guitar lessons, and presented the fabulous "Ad Lib en spectacle."
In 2005, Danielle launched Éditions Ad Lib by writing the popular activity book "Le Mu$icien millionnaire" and its English version, "Who Wants to Be a Mu$ician." Additionally, numerous educational works written and published by the École Vincent-d’Indy have been, and continue to be, edited and formatted by Éditions Ad Lib (Piano Repertoire, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2022; Piano, Violin, Cello, Guitar, Flute, Clarinet, Voice, and Theory Programs; Introduction to Musical Analysis and Literature by Sylveline Bourion, Volumes I and II). Her book "Organize Your Studio for Success" was first published in 2005, and revised and republished in 2010 and 2013. The book inspired two lectures at the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy and has helped numerous teachers organize their studios.
Danielle is a member of the CFMTA Translation Committee, under the chairmanship of David Côté.
Now retired from teaching piano, Danielle still finds time to occasionally perform piano at private receptions, give masterclasses and lectures, and adjudicate various competitions and exams. She also serves as assistant and collaborative pianist alongside her husband, Ghislain Boulanger, coaching a few students in voice and guitar.
