Bio

From a young age, Josée Allard naturally composed her piano pieces. She continued her classical training after that and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Montreal in 1993. She distinguished herself in various national competitions, including the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra Competition, where she won first prize in 1987.

In addition to her teaching at Jean-de-Brébeuf College and her private studio practice of 30 years, she turned to improvisation, and in 2008, completed a four-year training program in Leadership and Musicianship with Music for People. She then recorded an album of "live improvisations" with violinist Norman Nawrocki in 2015, and a piano solo album of meditative improvisations in 2020. In addition, three of her piano compositions are included in the Piano Repertoire of the Vincent-d'Indy School of Music.

She has led improvisation workshops in institutions such as the UQAM Preparatory School, the Vincent-d'Indy School of Music and Laval University in order to share her love of creativity with teachers and music students.

Josée Allard is also affiliated with the Vincent-d'Indy School of Music.
