Lazarov

Ivana Lazarov acquired her M.A. (1989) and B.A. (1984) with a major in Piano Performance at the University of Arts, Faculty of Music, in Belgrade. She had started a successful career as a concert pianist and chamber musician in her native Yugoslavia, giving concerts all over the country.

In 1993 Mrs. Lazarov relocated to Montreal with her family where she acquired a M.A. (1995) with a major in Chamber Music at the Faculty of Music of McGill University.

As a chamber musician and a collaborative pianist, her repertoire includes works for piano trio, strings and woodwinds. She has performed in Québec, in Ontario and in the U.S.A. She is an experienced adjudicator at music competitions and examinations.

Mrs. Lazarov is a devoted piano teacher. She loves to see her students rise to the challenging task of performing the rich classical music heritage and grow into hard working, educated and confident young people. She draws from her vast experience to develop her students' ability to understand music and to respond to technical challenges. Without imposing one way of interpreting a masterpiece, she guides her students in finding and expressing their own voice.

Her students participate in competitions and exams achieving high level outcomes, and perform at studio class concerts with solo, concerto and chamber music repertoire. Several have pursued their music education at universities in Montreal and Ottawa.
