Bio

Alexandre Desjeunes began studying the violin at the age of three and gave his first concert at five. In Paris, he studied both at the Conservatoire and at the Suzuki School, earning the Diploma of Musical Studies in Violin from the Conservatoire as well as a bachelor’s degree in musicology. He then moved to Montreal to pursue a Master’s in Cultural Enterprise Management at HEC. During this period, he also had the opportunity to train as a Suzuki method teacher with Karen Kimmet and Paule Barsalou.

Passionate about improvisation, he participated in France for five years in workshops with the renowned jazz violinist Didier Lockwood. In Montreal, in 2018, he discovered the Creative Ability Development method, which uses musical improvisation to foster each student’s personal expression and to teach them to create and exchange musical ideas through non-competitive exercises and games. He became a certified teacher of this method under Laura Nerenberg and made it his specialty.

He has taught at the McGill Conservatory, Stewart Hall in Pointe-Claire, the Préville Arts Centre, and privately. Since the pandemic, he has founded Studio MusicAlex.
