I have been teaching piano and voice since 1999 with in-person private lessons at my Montreal NDG studio, as well as online lessons with Facetime, Zoom or Google Meet, since 2020. I have also been teaching piano at various NDG Elementary school programs since 2013. My goal is to allow each individual to find their own musical expression and let it enrich their lives and the lives of those around them. I love to teach, and it shows with happy students and a legacy of music appreciation at all levels.
I have a BFA in Piano and Voice Performance (with Distinction) from Concordia University, and I also completed Piano Pedagogy and Vocal Pedagogy courses at the Crane School of Music in New York State. I am a full member of the Quebec Music Teachers Association and have been teaching the Royal Conservatory of Music program in piano, voice, and theory for the last 15 years.
I teach students of all ages and skill levels, from young children to seniors, from beginners to those returning to their musical studies after many years, including preparing students for auditions, exams, competitions and performances.
I strive to create a relaxed learning environment that is sensitive to my student's needs. I work with each student to provide clear and precise guidelines to help them develop the discipline of home practice so that their practice becomes something that is enjoyable and not a chore. Constructive feedback is given in a caring and thoughtful manner. My students develop self confidence through their musical studies, and I am proud my lessons fosters a lifelong love of music.
My students are encouraged to express their personal interest in music while broadening their exposure to other styles of music. All students learn technique, sightreading, theory, and ear training, along with various styles of repertoire, to ensure that they have a well-grounded musical base and understanding.
As students progress, they have the option to start the Royal Conservatory of Music program. I work together with each student to ensure they are fully prepared for any RCM exams, audition opportunities, or upcoming performances. Happily, many of my students in both voice and piano have won awards.
I offer my students performance opportunities in two recitals per year so they can experience the challenges and rewards of playing for others. Thus they learn the importance of sharing their musical gifts with their family, friends and community.
