    Salué par La Scena Musicale comme l'étoile montante de 2022, le pianiste montréalais David Potvin s'impose rapidement comme l'un des pianistes contemporains les plus passionnants du Canada. Lauréat du 45e Concours national de musique Eckhardt-Gramatté, il a effectué une tournée canadienne à l'automne 2022 avec un programme diversifié de répertoire canadien. Il se prépare actuellement à enregistrer son premier album avec un répertoire extrait de sa tournée.

    David s'intéresse à un large éventail de répertoires et s'est produit en solo et en récital de chambre au Canada, aux États-Unis et en Europe. Parmi ses projets récents, mentionnons la première mondiale d'une nouvelle pièce de Kalaisan Kalaichelvan, l'album Breathe In, Breathe Out, qui comprend de la musique du compositeur Edward Enman, un récital avec le violoniste Martin Beaver et un récital en collaboration avec le Centre de musique canadienne célébrant les œuvres du compositeur québécois Jacques Hétu. Il a gagné des prix aux concours Shean de 2018 et Tremplin de 2017.

    David enseigne dans les deux langues officielles du Canada et il est membre du prestigieux collège d'examinateurs du Royal Conservatory of Music. Il est titulaire d'un doctorat en arts musicaux de l'Université de Toronto, où il a étudié avec la célèbre pédagogue Marietta Orlov et a remporté le concours de récital du DMA.


    Hailed by La Scena Musicale as a rising star of 2022, Montréal-based pianist David Potvin is quickly establishing himself as one of Canada’s most exciting contemporary pianists. As winner of the 45th Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition, he toured across Canada in the fall of 2022 with a diversely curated program of Canadian repertoire. He is currently preparing to record his debut album with repertoire drawn from his cross Canada tour.

    David has an interest in a wide range of repertoire and has been featured in solo and chamber recitals across Canada, the United States, and Europe. Recent projects include the world premiere of a new piece by Kalaisan Kalaichelvan in Banff, the album Breathe In, Breathe Out, featuring music by composer Edward Enman, a recital with violinist Martin Beaver, and a recital in collaboration with the Canadian Music Centre celebrating the works of Quebec composer Jacques Hétu. Past performance awards include prizes at the 2018 Shean and 2017 Stepping Stone competitions.

    David maintains a private piano studio where he teaches in both of Canada’s official languages and is a member of the Royal Conservatory of Music’s prestigious college of examiners. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Toronto, where he studied with acclaimed pedagogue Marietta

    Orlov and won the DMA recital competition.
