Membership Categories :

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

Music teachers who, having obtained all the required diplomas and having a reasonable amount of teaching experience, fulfill all the QMTA membership criteria. These teachers can use the RMT (Registered Music Teacher) designation on their business card, correspondence etc.

Active members are entitled to all the exclusive privileges offered by the QMTA as describe in previous article.

Annual dues : Jun 1 - Sep 15: 105 $
Sep 16 - Mar 15: 115 $

Please note that we do not accept new members between Mar 16 and June 1.
PROVISIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Music teachers who do not fulfill all the requirements for the active membership in terms of training and teaching experience but are working toward meeting them.

The provisional status is reviewed by the Executive Committee each year, and may be granted for a maximum of five years, after which the status will go from provisional to active or friend depending on the case.
Provisional members are entitled to all the same privileges as the active members, but cannot use the RMT designation. Their provisional status will be indicated as such in the QMTA documents, event programs and website.

Annual dues : Jun 1 - Sep 15: 95 $
Sep 16 - Mar 15: 105 $

Please note that we do not accept new members between Mar 16 and June 1.
FRIEND MEMBERSHIP

Individuals who, although not actively engaged in any music teaching, have a sincere desire to further the aims and ideals of the Association, for example:

• Piano tuners, music store owners/managers, musicians, composers, volunteers, foundation chairmen, etc.;
• Retired or inactive teachers.

Friend members, not being active teachers, will understand they are not entitled to active membership privileges, as listed above.

Annual dues : Jun 1 - Mar 15: 40 $

Please note that we do not accept new members between Mar 16 and June 1.
HONORARY MEMBERSHIP

This special status is granted by the QMTA Executive Committee to members who have rendered exceptional services to the QMTA for a number of years.

Annual membership fee: Honorary members do not pay any fees.

  8. The right to attend the biennial CFMTA convention held in different Canadian cities.
  9. Your students' participation in:
  • Canada Music Week® recitals and events.
  • Club activities, such as the Kinder Club and the Adults' Performance Clubs.
  • The CFMTA National Music Writing Competition.
  • The CFMTA National Piano Competition, as the Quebec representative.
  • Master classes and workshops.
  • QMTA Spring Recital.

Preferential registration fees for QMTA-sponsored events, such as the Montreal Classical Music Festival.
