Canada Music Week® - November 22-28, 2020

History of Canada Music Week®

Canada Music WeekMD was established in 1960 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations. The event was so successful that the following year, the CFMTA Executive decided to turn it into an annual celebration of Canadian music.

Objectives

The objectives of CMW include creating public awareness of Canadian music, supporting Canadian composers and artists, familiarizing young Canadians with contemporary music, and encouraging music teachers to expand their knowledge of Canadian repertoire.

60th Anniversary

• Conseils pour organiser et gérer votre classe de piano en ligne (connaissance de vos outils et de ceux de vos élèves, de leurs possibilités et limites, gestion du temps) ;

• Comment créer un environnement engageant et interactif avec votre élève (positionnement, techniques) ;

Adult Performance Clubs

Our last "Beginner-Intermediate" meeting took place on June 14, via Zoom. It was such a pleasure! We raised our glasses to wish the Club a long life.

  • Teachers invite their adult students at the home of a host, to an informal gathering where they can perform the repertoire of their choice in a friendly atmosphere.

  • There are two clubs: (1) Beginners & Intermediate performers; (2) Advanced performers (Grade 8 RCM and up).

  • Admission is free. Guests each bring a plate to share to eat after the recital.

  • Participants must be comprised exclusively of friend members or students of current active or provisional QMTA members.

  • Reservation is required.

Beginner & Intermediate Performers

A word from the organizer:

Despite all the uncertainties that the Covid-19 brings us, let's still try to project ourselves forward with the music and our instruments, and enjoy the beautiful moments, the satisfaction and the benefits that everyday practice brings to all of us. Let's take advantage! We are fortunate to have the lessons and the practice of the instrument to free our minds from all these constraints generated by the Covid.

Our first meeting should take place on December 6, 2020, at the "Piano Vertu" musical instrument store, located at 5193, boul. Decarie. Presence of an excellent grand piano guaranteed or even two if necessary! The exact time remains to be determined but will probablly be around 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In the event that it is impossible to get together “live”, we can always meet on the Zoom platform or others. I am trying to check if it is possible to have some help at the time of the meeting to optimize the tone of the different pianos or other instruments if necessary, as well as the quality of the performances. Some websites offer solutions and tutorials on this subject. We are working on it! Welcome to subject specialists!

Please let me know, it will be a great pleasure to talk to you and have your suggestions!

Good practice and we look forward to hearing you play!
